Giving

Scrollwork is free to read, and paid for by people who choose to give. How to give, what a gift does and does not do, and the quiet gift to the family.

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:7, King James Version

Free to read

Scrollwork is free to read, and paid for by people who choose to. A donation is a gift, not a purchase: it buys no tier, no early access, no badge and no feature. The Bible reader stays free.

What it costs to run Scrollwork, what has been given, and where anything beyond three years' costs would go are set out on What it costs to run.

Donating

Donate is in the public site's top bar and in the application's menu. The donate page offers two ways:

  • Once, through PayPal, any amount.
  • Every month, through GitHub Sponsors, which asks you to have a GitHub account.

Both happen on that service's own page; no card or bank details ever reach Scrollwork. A gift here is not tax-deductible: Scrollwork is not a registered charity.

To change or stop a monthly gift, go to GitHub Sponsors or PayPal, where it was made. The Giving section of your account page lists gifts recorded against your account.

A gift to the Guillory family

Separate from donations, and offered quietly, at the foot of the public site and of the donate page, is A gift to the Guillory family: a gift to the family who make Scrollwork, personally, in thanks. It does not pay what Scrollwork costs to run (donations do), it is not tax-deductible, and it unlocks nothing. The gift page says how to give one, and how it is told apart from a donation.

Other ways to help

Telling someone about Scrollwork, and writing when something is wrong or could be clearer, help as much as anything.
